again, i know that i'm being naive, but what on earth is this world coming to? this 13year old boy was just trying to make a living, and now he's maimed for life! an amputee for the rest of his days! its disgusting.

ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that this is becoming very much the way of the world, and ppl (sadly, myself included at times) are becoming seriously jaded.. news like this is just another day in in centuries of such days. we're becoming immune to basic humanity. my excuse is that i'm over empathetic at times and that takes a toll. But that's no excuse, because we end up turning our backs on ppl in need. I remember being very affected by this hadith that i first heard when i was a school kid, the gist of which is: if a muslim cannot change the state of things with his hand (with action) than he should try with his toungue (by speaking out) and if he can't speak out, than the least he can do is with his heart (prayer, thought, empathy) and this last option is the weakest of Iman. For me, most times, sadly, its the last option as my hands (and tongue) are unable to do anything else.
